The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is the phone that combines the usability of the mobile phone to go along with a PSP. The PlayStation PSP version is probably the most popular form of gaming device and if there is one thing that the PSP cannot do, then it is the ability to make and receive calls. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play satisfies it by being able to integrate the PSP like interface into the Sony Ericsson mobile phone. Almost every single aspect of the phone resembles a PSP and it is one phone that you can almost use it for everyday gaming.
The phone, however, has not been officially launched by Sony Ericsson. Till date the phone exists only as a prototype and it is only up to Sony Ericsson to go ahead and launch the phone. The rumour that Sony Ericsson is going to launch this phone has been floating around in China and a number of images that claim to be the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play have been doing rounds on the Internet. The images of the phone will be a phone that will soon become the most adored mobile phone mainly because of its looks. The phone is extremely glossy and even though the rear of the phone might resemble a normal Sony Ericsson, it has certain silver touches that lend a grace to the phone.
Since it is being developed as a gaming phone, the processor specifications of the phone are clearly class leading. The phone will be having a normal processor to power the phone and a dedicated graphics processing unit to take care of the gaming section. The display of the phone is a 4 inch touch screen display and it is still not sure if this display will incorporate the Bravia technology like the recently launched Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc. The main component of this LCD display can hold up to 854 x 480 pixels comfortably. The processor in the phone is expected to be a 1 GHz unit that will be from the QUALCOMM range. There are also rumours that a 1.2 GHz unit could be used in the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. The separate graphics card unit comprises of an Adreno CPU that is probably recognised to be the best when it comes to graphics and stuff.
The biggest difference between this phone and any other normal high-end smartphones is the presence of a sliding keyboard that doubles up as the PSP controls. The buttons and keys almost resemble the PSP in terms of looks and feel. The phone will be coming with all forms of connectivity to let you be with online gaming 24 x 7 in the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. The battery of the phone is expected to be brilliant like every other feature of the phone. Only the initial pictures of the phone have been released and there is every possibility that this phone could be launched in the UK by Sony Ericsson.
